Break up 2 1/2 c. frozen cherries 1 c. cherry juice 2/3 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 3 Tbsp. cornstarch 1/4 tsp. almond flavoring 2 Tbsp. butter 1/4 tsp. red food color
Cook cherries in juice, with sugar, salt and cornstarch until boiling and thickens. Remove form heat and add butter, almond flavoring and red food color. Pour into an uncooked pie shell with full crust on top or lattice strips of crust. Bake at 350º F for 45-50 minutes or until crust is light brown.
