1 C shortening
3/4 C sugar
3/4 C brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. water
2 1/4 C flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 C nuts,chopped (optional)
1 11-12 oz. package chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F. Combine shortening, sugars, vanilla, and
water until creamy. Blend in eggs. Sift together flour and soda.
Mix dry ingredients with moist ingredients. Stir in nuts and
chocolate chips. Bake on slightly greased cookie sheet at 350F
for 10-12 minutes (until brown). Cool slightly then remove from
cookie sheet.

Experiment with mint chocolate chips or any of the newer flavors. You might also try 1/2 shortening and 1/2 margarine or butter for a different texture of cookie.
