1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or oleo
1 1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 egg yolk
3 tablespoons milk
3 cups fresh/frozen (thawed)/canned fruit

For topping:
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon cinammon
Cut in 2 tablespoons soft butter to coarse crumbs

Cream butter, sift in dry ingredients. Add combined yolk and milk. Press mixture onto bottom of a greased round or square cake pan or a small pyrex dish. Press fruit into dough and sprinkle with topping. Don't use fruit that is too sweet because the topping is sweet. Bake at 375 degrees for about 50 minutes.
