1 1/2 cups sugar
1 pound butter
4 eggs, beaten
2 Tbls lemon extract
4 Tbls vanilla extract
4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 pound candied cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, beating after each addition. Add extracts. Mix dry ingredients and add a little at a time just until thoroughly mixed. Cut cherries in half, but don't add to batter yet! Divide batter between two loaf pans. Add cherries to each pan and mix to distribute evenly.
Bake for 1 1/2 hours and 350 degrees.

This recipe was given to us by my mom's friend Judy. This was one of her traditional family recipes at Christmas time.
