1 pound asparagus, ends trimmed
6 tbsp. butter, room temperature
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 tbsp. chopped fresh basil
2 -3 large garlic cloves, minced
2 tsp. fresh lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Cook asparagus in a large pot of boiling salted water until just crisp-tender, about 3 minutes. Drain well. Arrange asparagus on a broil proof platter. Preheat broiler. Beat butter in a meduim bowl until fluffy. Beat in cheese, basil, garlic, and lemon juice. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Drop butter mixture by teaspoonfuls over asparagus. Broil asparagus until topping browns, about 3 minutes. Serve hot.

You can make the butter mixture in advance and refrigerate. The butter then crumbles easily over the asparagus.
