1/3 c shortening 1/2 c sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1 egg, beaten 1 1/2 c flour 1/4 tsp salt 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 c milk
Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla, then blend in egg. Combine flour, salt and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture in 3 portions alternately with milk in 2 portions. Put in small (or round) cakepan. Bake 15-20 minutes at 350º.
