1 qt fresh or frozen blackberries 1 cup sugar 1 cup water
1 cup flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/3 cup sugar 1/2 cup milk
Bring the blackberries, sugar and water to a boil in a saucepan. Put in a 8 x 12 or 9 x 13 pan.
Sift together the flour, salt & baking powder. Cut in 1/2 cup shortening. Add the 1/3 cup sugar & 1/2 cup milk. Stir with fork until mixture holds together. Drop by teaspoonful on hot blackberries. Bake at 425º for 20 min.
