2 c brown sugar
1 c shortening
2 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
2 c dates
3 c flour
1/2 c cherries
1 c nuts
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp allspice
2 tsp cloves
2 c beer



Frosting:

1 box powdered sugar
1/2 c margarine or butter
12 oz cream cheese
1 tbsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix ingredients thoroughly and pour into a 9 X 13 inch pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes.

Frosting: Beat well. It seems thick from the beginning but keep beating until smooth.
