2 c. sifted flour
4 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
1/4 c. sugar
dash of nutmeg
4 T. Crisco
1 egg
l c. milk
bit of vanilla
l c. blueberries ( I use frozen ones often, but do not thaw them)

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and nutmeg.
Work the Crisco into the flour mixture.
In small container mix egg into milk and vanilla.
Then take this mixture and mix into flour until it is sticky. Do not over mix. Combine the blueberries very gently with this dough.
Grease muffin pans very well. Pour batter into the pan and cover with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Bake 20 minutes in oven of 375 or 400 depending on your oven.

Many years ago Richard's mom and I made up this recipe and we have been using it ever since. This has been such a hit for many years at our annual Fourth of July picnics. These would be enjoyed with fresh coffee in the late morning as we prepared for the hubbub of the day.
