Pie:
9" pie crust
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 or 3 T. flour
1/2 stick butter or margarine
4 or 5 medium apples (tart)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 to 3 tsp lemon juice
Dash of salt
Small amount of water
Coconut (optional)

Crumbly Crust Topping:
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together apples; cored, peeled and sliced, with water, sugars and remaining ingredients except butter. Slice butter into pads and place layered on crust. Pour pie ingredients into shell. Blend topping ingredients with fork until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of pie. Bake until crust and topping are lightly browned. About 40 minutes.

Granny Smith apples work really well. Also you can make a second crust and put lattice strips on top of the pie instead of the topping or in addition to the topping.
