1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
2 c. chopped nuts
1 T. sugar
1/4 t. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Mix 1 c. sugar, shortening, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until smooth. Stir in apples and nuts. Spread in loaf pan. Mix 1 T. sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes. Immediately remove from pan. Cool bread completely before slicing. Store tightly covered.
