For an off-white / yellow frosting:
1 cup Crisco
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 pounds of powdered sugar
1/3 to 1/2 cup of hot water

For a completely WHITE frosting:

2 tsp Clear vanilla
2 lbs of powdered sugar
1/3 to 1/2 cup of hot water

Directions:
Directions:
On medium speed of mixer - cream together for three minutes ..
1) Crisco (shortening), butter or margarine, salt, vanilla.
2) Blend in powdered sugar and hot water.
3) Beat until all ingredients are well blended.
4) This should be enough to completely frost a nine inch cake.
5) If you use butter or margarine your frosting will be an off white color. You can add in Wilton's White-White coloring (can be found at a cake supply store or Michael's craft stores)

If you want a completely white frosting without using the white-white coloring, you can use additional shortening to replace the butter/margarine
and use clear vanilla instead of standard vanilla.
