2 1/3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cloves
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
2/3 cup shortening
1 cup buttermilk or soured milk (1 T. vinegar to 1 cup milk)
3 eggs
1/2 cup nuts
1/2 cup raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together into bowl the flour, sugar, soda, salt, and spices. Add brown sugar, shortening and milk. Beat 2 minutes. Add eggs. Beat 2 more minutes. Fold in 1/2 cup nuts and 1/2 cup raisins.
Bake 35 to 45 minutes in 350 degree oven, depending on size of pan(s)
