4 pounds beef shortribs or 2 1/2 lb. boneless chuck roast, cut into serving pieces
2 large onions, sliced
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1 - 12 oz. can beer
2 T. flour
1/2 cup cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Brown beef in small amount of fat in large Dutch oven. Add onion slices, soup mix and beer. Cover and simmer for 2 hours or until tender. Remove meat; skim off excess fat. Combine flour and cold water in cup, stirring until smooth. Stir into juices in pan. Cook until thickened and bubbly. Return beef to pot. Serve with mashed potatoes and carrots.
