1 quart canning jar
2 1/4 C. flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 C. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 C. packed brown sugar
1/2 C. granulated sugar
1/3 C. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 C. white baking chips

Combine 1 1/4 C flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In small bowl blend remaining 1 C. flour and cocoa powder. Layer dry mix ingredients in jar: 1/2 cocoa mixture, press down, spoon 1/2 plain flour on top. smooth down, repeat. Top with brown sugar, compact, then white sugar, compact. Place both kinds of chips in layers on top, close jar tightly. Attach a note to the jar with the cookie recipe: Mix ingredients in large bowl with 3/4 C melted butter, 3 eggs and 1 tbsp. vanilla extract. Drop dough by rounded teaspoon, 2 inches apart onto baking sheet. Bake 12-13 minutes in 350 oven, cook on rack.
