Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup half and half
1/3 cup white corn syrup
2T. Cocoa (Dad said Scant Tblsp)
1T. Butter
1/2 tsp. Vanilla (Mom's directions say 1&1/2 tsp.)
/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
In heavy saucepan mix cocoa & sugar, then 1/2 & 1/2 and corn syrup. Heat on low, stirring until all the sugar dissolves. Be careful to wipe down sides so undissolved sugar is off. Bring to boil on medium heat until soft ball stage. Don’t scrape down sides!
Take off heat and add vanilla and butter and BEAT until creamy. This takes a long time and takes a strong arm!
Add chopped nuts if desired. Pour into greased 8-9 inch cake pan or pie plate.
