4 large fresh artichokes

1 or 2 cans chicken broth
1 to 2 c. italian flavored bread crumbs
1/2 tsp. chopped parsley
dash of garlic powder

Directions:
Prepare artichokes: cut off and peel stems. Use scissors to cut off big outer leaves and trim all sharp points. Cut lemon in half and rub artichokes all over with lemon. Use a spoon to remove the bristly "choke" just above the heart. Add salt and squeeze lemon halves over artichokes to sprinkle with juice. Arrange artichokes in large oven-safe pan or baking dish with lid. Pry leaves apart and fill with bread crumbs. Include stems in pan. Add chicken broth to pan, using two cans if necessary. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 25 or 30 minutes. Remove cover and increase heat to 400 degrees to brown breadcrumbs.
