1 1/2 c. boiling water 1 t. baking soda 1 c. molasses
4 c. flour 2 c. brown sugar 1 c. shortening 1/4 t. salt
Pour boiling water over soda in a bowl and stir in molasses. Pour into a pie shell. With a pastry blender or fork, mix ingredients for crumb topping. The crumbs will be coarse in texture. Sprinkle crumbs over molasses mixture in pie shell. Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes. Makes 2 - 8 inch pies.
