Butter Cake Recipe

2 c sugar
1 c butter
3 c flour
1 t baking powder
1 t salt
1/2 t soda
4 eggs
1 c buttermilk
2 t vanilla

1 c sugar
1/4 c water
1/2 c butter
1 T vanilla

Grease and flour tube pan. Combine butter and sugar, mix well. Add rest of ingredients. Pour in pan. Bake @ 325 for 1 hour.

For icing: Combine ingredients and bring to a boil. Pour over hot cake. Cool completely. Enjoy!
