1 c shortening
1 c brown sugar
1 c white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
3 c oatmeal
1/2 c oatmeal

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until smooth and creamy, then add sifted dry ingredients. Fold in oatmeal and nuts. Drop from spoon and bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until done.

This is my mother-in-law's recipe and the boys' favorite; (Bonnie Young) but oops, it appears I left the number of eggs and possibly something else out. I am leaving the recipe but try it on your own accord. We can't find my copy or her's. When I do, I will let you know.
