1 1/2 c. Pinto Beans
1/2 c. tomato sauce
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 T. black pepper
2/3 c. bacon, cut in small pieces
1 t. chili powder (optional)
1 clove garlic
Salt to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Soak beans overnight in water to cover. (Or the quick method: cover beans with water and bring to a boil, turn off heat and let sit for 1 hour.) Drain off the water and cover with fresh water. Add rest of ingredients, except salt, in pot to cook. Bring to boil, then simmer gently till tender. When Beans are done add salt to your taste.

I like these without the chili powder and add more garlic. Frank likes the chile powder, so we usually make them both ways. Add the chili powder later.
