1-1/4 c. milk, divided
1/2 c. fine bread crumbs
1-1/2 pounds ground beef or 1 pound ground beef and 1/2 pound ground pork
1 beaten egg
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1-1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind
3 tbsp. oil for frying
flour to coat hands

Pour 1/2 c. milk over bread crumbs in large bowl. Mix with ground meat along with seasonings, lemon zest and egg. Mix well. Coat hands with flour and roll meatballs. Approximately 2 tbsp. per meatball. You should have about 18 meatballs. Brown in oil in large skillet. Pour off fat. MIx remaining milk (3/4 c.) with mushroom soup and pour mixture over meatballs in skillet. Heat until mixture boils. Lower heat and simmer for 45 minutes. If sauce becomes too thick, add more milk. Serve over a 12 oz. package of egg noodles (cooked according to package instructions).
