Ingredients:

Cream Together:
• 1 ½ cups shortening (1/2 oleo and ½ Crisco)
• 2 cups sugar

Add and mix well:
• 6 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 2 tbsp. lemon juice
• ¼ tsp Anise oil

Add dry ingredients alternating with milk:
• ¼ cup milk + 1 Tbsp.
• 6 tsp baking powder
• ½ tsp baking soda
• 7-8 cups flour

Mix dough in a mixer then knead. Roll out ½ to ¾ inch thick. Cur into shapes and place on cookie sheet (Mamaw shaped hers into Easter eggs and baskets).

Bake:
• 350 degrees for 10 minutes
• Then 325 degrees for 30 minutes

Mamaw prefers 350 degrees for 20 minutes (until lightly brown)

ICING
• Beat 2 egg whites until they hold shape
• Add 1 tsp lemon juice
• Add 3 cups powdered sugar and beat until soft peaks form
• Spread over cookies and sprinkle with colored sprinkles.
