1 c butter, softened
¾ c sugar
¾ c packed light brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2¼ c flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 c (12 oz package) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs; beat well. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture. Stir in chips and nuts. Refrigerate over night for best results.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º oven for 7-8 minutes. Flatten slightly with spatula and return to oven for 1 minute.

The original recipe did not suggest chilling the dough overnight, or flattening the cookie at the end of the baking time - this we developed to make a thicker, chewier cookie, which has made our cookies world famous ;)
