1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Mix together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternating with bananas. Add nuts if desired. Pour into a greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 40 to 50 minutes.
