Bring to a boil in saucepan
1 3/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
cup shortening

Remove from heat and add
3 cups quick oats
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup peanut butter
4 tablespoons cocoa
teaspoon salt
1 Cup coconut (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, milk and shortening in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Mix and drop by teaspoons onto greased sheets or wax paper.

Can also omit peanut butter and then increase cocoa to 6 tablespoons.
