1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. canned pumpkin
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ginger
3/4 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. walnuts or pecans
3/4 c. chocolate chips.

Mix shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla mix well. Sift in dry ingredients and add alternately with pumpkin (mix well in between). Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Bake @ 350 for 15-20 minutes.
