1/2 c. flour
4 Tbsp. cocoa
Dash of salt
4 egg yolks
4 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix 4 egg yolks with 1 cup of milk. Add mixture to first 4 ingredients. Add 3 cups of milk. Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick. Remove from heat and add 3 to 4 tablespoons butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Cool slightly; pour into baked pie shell.

Variations: Omit cocoa; add a small can crushed pineapple.
Omit cocoa for Vanilla Cream Pie; to this, add 3/4 cup of shredded coconut. This basic recipe works for banana pudding also.
