4 c. home canned tomatoes
1/4 c. butter or margarine
3 tbsp. sugar
3 c. coarse Italian bread
1/8 tsp. ground pepper
1/8 tsp. allspice

Directions:
Directions:
Heat tomatoes and butter in a saucepan until butter melts. Mix in bread that has been broken into small chunks and the rest of the ingredients. Pour mixture into a buttered 9 inch square baking dish. Sprinkle lightly with allspice on top. Bake, uncovered, at 400F for 40-45 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Serves 4-8
