1 cup softened butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together softened butter and brown sugar.
Add 2 eggs; mix until creamy
Measure into a bowl flour, baking soda, cream of tartar.
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.
Beat until well mixed
Form into a ball or (two balls).
Chill in frig.
Roll out dough with rolling pin.
Cut out shapes, decorate, and put on greased or lined cookie sheet.
Bake 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes.

To make jam-jam cookies, roll the dough out fairly thin, cut circles, and punch out a small circle from centre of half the cookies, bake,6-7 minutes. After cooling, put cookies together with jam or jelly. Can be frozen.
