4 cups unsifted flour
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1 3/4 cups solid shortening, at room temperature
1 tbsp white or cider vinegar
1 large egg
1/2 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, sugar, and salt in large bowl. Add shortening and mix with fork until crumbly. In small bowl beat vinegar, egg and water; combine with flour mixture, tossing with fork until all is moistened.
Divide into 5 portions - small round patties. Wrap in foil or plastic wrap and chill 1/2 hour; can also ob frozen for months.
Roll out on floured board. Makes 2 complete pies and one bottom crust.
