1 pt.milk
1/2 c. half-and-half
1/4 c. butter
1 pt. oysters (with juice)
1 tsp. salt
dash of pepper
oyster crackers

Directions:
Directions:
Heat milk and half-and-half to scalding. Just before serving, melt butter in saucepan; add oysters (with juice). Cook gently just until oyster edges curl. Add to scalded milk and half-and-half. Season with salt and pepper; serve immediately with oyster crackers

It is a family tradition for my mother to prepare oyster stew one evening during the Christmas season. My father, brother, and I enjoy a bowl filled with as many oysters as possible while my mother enjoys a bowl of any OTHER kind of soup.
