Nana’s Anise Cookies Recipe

3/4 Cup unsalted Butter (1 1/2 sticks)
1/2 Cup Sugar
3 Eggs
3 Cups All Purpose Flour
4 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/2 bottle Anise extract
Nonpareil

Anise Frosting
1 box of Confectionery Sugar
1/2 bottle of Anise extract

Directions:

Cookie
Blend Flour, Baking Powder and Salt
Cream softened butter, eggs, sugar and Anise extract in mixing bowl.
Gradually add and blend flour mixture.
Break off pieces and roll into into walnut size pieces, moisten palm of hand with oil if dough is sticking.

Place on non-greased cookie sheet

Bake at 400º oven for 12-15 minutes, top of cookie will crack and bottom of cookie will brown.

Frosting
Mix box of Confectionery Sugar with Anise extract and add hot water Tablespoon at a time until a smooth consistency.

Once cookies are cooked and slightly cooled, drop in Frosting cover fully, remove with slotted spoon sprinkling top with Nonpareils.

Place on cookie rack until completely dry, turning over to dry bottom.
