Ingredients: 2 cups butter 2 ½ cups sugar 2 eggs, well beaten 4 cups all-purpose flour variety cookie/cake decorating sugars

Directions:Cream butter until soft, add sugar gradually until fluffy. Add eggs in thirds. Beating after addition. Add flour 1 cup at a time. Mixing until blended after each addition.
Separate dough into fourths and wrap in waxed paper. Chill dough overnight. When ready to bake, remove dough from refrigerator and let set 10-15 minutes. Unwrap and roll out on well floured board or counter. Turning over half way through. Roll out thin enough to be able to see the grain of the wood or counter design through the dough. This makes a crispier cookie.
Choose your favorite cookie cutter designs and cut dough. Place on lightly greased cooking sheets. Decorate with imagination and fun. Place the scraps on the cookie sheet as well. They taste better the first time rolled out and look just as nice when decorated.
Bake at 350º for 6-9 minutes. Depending on the thinness of the cookie. Discard any sugars remaining on the cookie sheets each time. Sugar will have a burnt taste when baked too many times. |
