1 (18 oz) box yellow cake mix
1 cup sugar
1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple
1 (7 oz) or 2 small boxes instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 (8 oz) whipped topping
1 cup coconut (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cake as directed. Bake in 9 x 13 pan. Combine sugar and pineapple. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Pour hot mixture over hot cake. Chill cake completely. Make pudding as directed on box using 2 1/2 cups milk. Spread over cake and chill. Spread pecans over pudding and cover with whipped topping. Chill several hours.

This cake freezes well.
