1 cup butter
2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
4 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour and salt, set aside. In mixing bowl, cream butter, 1 cup sugar and vanilla. Add remaining sugar and eggs. Beat well. Continuing beating slowly while slowly adding flour mixture. Chill several hours or overnight.

Preheat oven 400º

Roll dough out on flour or powdered sugar dusted counter or pastry cloth to 1/8" - 1/4" thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake on parchment lined cookie sheet. 8 - 10 minutes or until just brown around edges. Cool completely.
 

Cookie Glaze


Ingredients:

3 cups sifted powdered sugar
1/4 cup warm water
1 T light corn syrup
1/4 tsp vanilla

Color glaze with gel food coloring as desired and decorate. Can use this glaze to layer designs by letting glaze dry between layers.

After glaze has set on cookies, store between layers of parchment or wax paper.
Can add a piece of white bread in the container to keep the cookies fresh and soft.
