1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
1½ tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
5 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp nutmeg
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
Directions:
Directions:
1. In large bowl, cream shortening, sugar, vanilla; add eggs.Beat until fluffy; stir in sour cream.
2. Sift dry ingredients; add to shortening mixture. Stir until smooth, soft dough.
3. Chill thoroughly, preferably overnight. Roll out not too thinly; place on greased cookie sheet; sprinkles with sugar (optional)
4. Bake at 350º for 8-9 minutes until lightly browned. Decorate, if desired.
