Stir baking powder,salt,cr.of tartar,and sugar into flour.
Sift together 3 times into large mixing bowl.
Cut in shortening til mixture is the consistency of corn meal;
Store in covered container at room temp..
Measure by putting lightly into cup and level off with spatula.
To use master mix:::Biscuits:3c. mix and 2/3c. to 1c. milk,mix .Knead 15 to18 times on lightly floured board.Roll out 1/2 in. thick .Cut and bake 10 to 12 min. 450.
Muffins::3c.mix,1c.milk,2T.sugar,1egg beaten.Add sugar to mix.Combine milk and beaten egg. Add to mix. Stir until flour is just moistened ..Bake in greased muffin pan 20min.at 425.
Cornbread::11/2c.mix,3/4c.cornmeal,1/2tsp.salt,2T.sugar,3/4c.milk, 1egg beaten. Stir cornmeal,salt and sugar into mix. Combine milk and beaten egg.
add to mix stirring til blended.
Bake in greased 10x10 pan 30 min. at 425.
Hotcakes or waffles::3c. mix, 1 1/2c. milk, 1egg beaten. Stir milk and egg into mix until well blended.Bake on hot griddle or waffle iron.
Nut Bread::3c.mix, 1/2c. sugar, 1/2c. chopped nuts, 1c. milk, 1 egg beaten. Stir sugar and nuts into mix. Combine milk and egg. Add to mix stirring until blended. Pour into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake 1 hr at 350.
