In large soup pot combine
( 6 ) chicken breast
1/2 cup Barley
2 qts water
3 large carrots
1 lg celery stalk
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp thyme
crushed red pepper ( optional )

Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 2 hrs or until done.
