4 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup cornstarch
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
10 cups water
3 tbls lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and slice enough apples to fill about 5 or 6 qt. jars. Fill qt. jars tightly with sliced apples, cover the apples with syrup. Procees for 20 min. in water bath.
Syrup: 4 1/2 cups sugar, 1 cup cornstarch, 2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, 1 tsp. salt, 10 cups water. Cook syrup until thick and bubbly. Add 3 tbls. lemon juice.
