1/3 cup lard
2 cups self rising flour
3/4 cups buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Cut the lard into the flour with a pastry blender until crumbly; add the buttermilk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead 3 or 4 times. Roll dough to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut with 2 1/2 inch round cutter and place on a lightly butter baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes at 425 degrees. Brush with butter.

My brothers and I grew up with these on the table just about every morning of our youth. These are the best tasting biscuits I have ever had. I imagine that mom got these from Big Mama, her mother in law and dad's mother. Probally been in the family for generations.
