2 cups okra, sliced
2 cups tomatoes, diced
2 slices bacon
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon and reserve. Saute onion and pepper in bacon fat until tender. Add okra and saute 2 to 3 minutes. This keeps it from being slimy. Add remaining ingredients and reserved bacon. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for one hour, stirring often and adding water as necessary to prevent sticking.
