1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
1 cup sweet milk
3 cups cake flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
5 egg whites
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 squares chocolate
2/3 cup brewed coffee
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
First melt chocolate in coffee carefully to make a thick custard. Cream butter and sugar. Sift flour, soda and salt. Add alternately with milk. Add melted chocolate. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar and fold carefully into cake batter. Bake in 9" x 13" pan in 350 oven for 40 to 45 minutes.
