2 cups Sugar
2 cups Butter – softened
2 Eggs
2 tsp Vanilla
5 Tbsp Milk

½ tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Cream of Tartar
1 tsp Baking powder
6 cups Flour (sifted)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift Flour, Salt, Soda, Cream of Tarter and Baking powder into a bowl; set aside. Cream together the Sugar, Butter and Eggs. Add Vanilla. Mix Dry ingredients into the wet a little at a time, blending well. Add the milk mix well. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours.

Roll cookie dough out to 1/4", dust with powder sugar and cut out cookies. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 -12 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes then transfer to a cooling rack.
If you are going to dust with sugar do that prior to baking. If you are going to frost cookies – allow to completely cool first.

I use Baking Vanilla for the best flavor. Sometimes I substitute Orange Extract or Almond Extract for the Vanilla.
