3 tablespoons Crisco shortening
1 to 2 pound round steak
1/4 cup flour
1 medium onion, chopped
1/4 cup ketchup
1 cup water (or more depending on amount of gravy desired)

Directions:
Directions:
Cut round steak into large bite-size pieces. Dredge in flour, salt and pepper.

Cook onion in shortening until tender. Add steak and cook, covered stirring frequently. When well browned, add ketchup and water. Cover and simmer until steak is tender, approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

If gravy is too thin, thicken with a little flour and water. Serve with rice (or mashed potatoes if preferred).
