3 egg whites
cup sugar
teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla, divided
1 pint whipping cream
3 cups sliced fresh strawberries

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold in sugar, cream of tartar and teaspoon vanilla. Cover cookie sheet with brown paper or parchment paper. Drop by tablespoons on to paper. Place in 400 oven. Turn off heat . Leave meringues in oven 4 hours or overnight. Do not open oven door. When ready to serve, whip cream and add remaining teaspoon vanilla. Break meringues and mix with whipped cream and strawberries. Especially pretty served in stemmed glasses.

This is Caroline, Rob and Jim's favorite dessert - "Strawberry Goop," as they call it. The original recipe says this recipe yields 8 servings - Caroline, Jim and Rob could eat it all and beg for more. It's good.
