2 cups fine vanilla wafer crumbs
1 cup dried dates, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons lemon juice
whipped cream

Directions:
Directions:
Combine vanilla wafer crumbs, dates and pecans. Combine milk and lemon juice; pour into crumb mixture and knead well. Form into a roll about 3 inches thick and 3 1/2 inches long. Wrap and refrigerate at least 12 hours. Slice and serve with whipped cream.

Elise and Nannie had an apartment in Mommee and Pop's house in Columbia when I was growing up. My parents and I had another apartment in the house. It was during WWII and my Daddy was gone much of the time. I remember sitting on top of the table in Nannie's kitchen "helping" to make cookies and desserts.
