1 medium onion
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup milk
1 T vinegar
1 T sugar
½ cup bread crumbs or crushed crackers
¾ cup catsup

Directions:

Brown the meat and onions together. Add a bit of salt and pepper, if desired.
Once cooked, turn down heat and add ingredients in the order shown. Add a little water if needed.
Simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

I always double this recipe as we enjoy it even more the second day. My mom, Marjorie Elander, made this to serve my large brownie troop, in the late 1950's and we still enjoy it today! The picture was taken in our basement about 1958 at 511 West Rose in Garden City, MI and the lady in the photo was our troop leader, Mrs. Murphy who lived a few houses away on Florence.
