4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

3/4 cup whole milk or buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

Prepare cookie sheet: lightly grease with shortening or PAM

In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Using a pastry blender (or two knives held together) cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. If using raisins, stir in now.

In a small bowl, beat eggs and milk; pour over dry ingredients. Stir lightly with fork or wooden spoon till the dry ingredients are moistened; stir with hands till all ingredients are well-mixed and dough is yellowish color & sticky texture. If too dry, add milk.

Separate dough into 2 clumps; shape into balls; place on prepared cookie sheet, near opposite corners. Bake 45-55 minutes, till toothpick comes clean & crust is golden.
