1 tablespoon of butter

2 1/2 cups of white sugar

5 ounce can of evaporated milk

1 1/2 cups of pecans

Directions:
Directions:
1.In a large pot, add 2 cups of the sugar, evaporated milk, and butter. Cook on medium heat on the stove.

2. Add remaining 1/2 cup of sugar to a smaller pot. Once butter starts to melt in the larger pot (above) turn the small pot on high. Continuously stir the small pot on high heat.

3. When small pot of sugar caramelizes into a mahogany color, slowly pour it while stirring into the larger pot. Continue stirring ingredients within the larger pot.

4. Once small pot is empty, add pecans to the larger pot and stir until slightly thickened mixture forms.

5. Spoon out first praline (about 1/2 tablespoon) onto wax paper. If praline holds its shape, quickly spoon out remainder of the pot into praline drops. If first tested praline is runny, continue to stir the pot a little more until the mixture is thicker and test again.

Personal Notes:
Erica's friend in Baton Rouge made homemade pralines and she brought them back to mom's for Christmas one year. Mom just loved them! She told Erica to get the recipe for her. It quickly became a favorite candy for mom.
